Improved enterprise management effectiveness at Otwockie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji Sp. z o.o.

water drop

OPWiK Sp. z o.o. is a company with 80 years of tradition. It provides services of water supply and sewage discharge in Otwock and the municipalities of Karczew, Józefów and Celestynów.

Now the length of the water supply system operated by OPWiK is over 220 km.

Challenge

Before IFS Applications™ was implemented, Otwockie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji Sp. z o.o. had been using several simple, standalone IT tools.  The tools covered only certain areas of the company’s business, including for instance finances and accounting, customer services and warehouse management.  Due to no integration of the existing IT tools, access to management information was difficult and limited the potential for effective management.

The objective of the implementation of the new tool was to enhance the effectiveness of business management by implementing a comprehensive integrated ERP class IT solution.

Solution

OPWiK has been using the IFS Applications system since 2012. The development of the company and a need to improve the effectiveness of business activities were underlying the decision to update the system. The upgrade project of the IFS ApplicationsTM system to version 9 was carried out by the consultant team of InfoConsulting at the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017.

The major objective of the upgrade was to integrate the existing solutions.  A major element of the implementation was the launch of the GIS Integration (InfoGIS) module which provides for presentations of failures in the water supply and sewage discharge network on a GIS map with the forms of the IFS ApplicationsTM 9 system.

Additionally, other dedicated tools offered by InfoConsulting were implemented.

In its work, InfoConsulting implemented modification to the InfoBilling module used at OPWiK.  The solution inter alia supports mass settlements, invoicing to customers and handling of invoicing on Psion mobile terminals.  The module integration with the IFS ApplicationsTM system provides for comprehensive handling of settlements with customers, automatic document posting, sales, multi-dimensional sales analysis, and support to water meters.

In order to enhance the effectiveness of business management, new functionalities were implemented like eBOK to service customers, support to investment processes and integration of IFS ApplicationsTM 9 with the InfoGIS system.

Additionally, a success was achieved with the implementation of a functionality providing for support to investment in water supply and sewage discharge infrastructure.

As a result, the IFS ApplicationsTM 9 system comprehensively supports the processes pursued at the company – since a need for investments arise until complete billing services to customers.

Laboratory processes, support to public procurement contracts and support to investments have all been enhanced.  IFS ApplicationsTM cooperating with the GIS Integration module support the management of inspections and overhauls of the technical infrastructure.
