BJS Czech is part of the Swedish group BJS Group AB, whose history dates back to 1917. It specializes in varnishing furniture parts and furniture packaging, and is one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the Czech Republic. BJS Czech exports its products from Humpolec city to the whole world. The company’s largest customer is a well-known Swedish furniture chain, from which the Czech supplier received the Long-term Partners award in 2024. In 2019, BJS Czech was struggling with insufficient performance of its existing ERP system and began looking for a new solution that would suit fast large-scale production, and could effectively process an ever-increasing number of transactions.

Emphasis on experience and in-house configuration
Speed of material flow processing, production planning, quality management, a user-freindly environment, and also the possibility of configuring the system themselves, was a vital element in their decision. These were the main criteria for the selection process for a new ERP supplier. When it came to references, BJS Czech emphasized that experience with furniture or woodworking production companies would be a core asset, which InfoConsulting demonstrably has. The IFS solution is widespread in this field in the Central and Eastern European region. The experience of the expert team with digital transformation, the technical sophistication of the information system, and the references, made the decision to use ERP software supplied by InfoConsulting Czech, a sound decision.
Technical challenges and force majeure
During the project for BJS Czech, we encountered technical and external challenges. As a result, the implementation took longer than is usual for a company of similar size. During the project, we addressed challenges associated with the Covid pandemic, but also with the invasion of Ukraine, where the sister company of BJS Czech is located. At the same time, it was necessary for BJS to prioritize other tasks related to strategic development instead of fully focusing on the implementation of the ERP solution.
The biggest technical challenge was ensuring efficiency for users on the production floor. They needed to quickly scan barcodes on mobile devices and easily perform multiple transactions on material movements all at once. Support for barcodes and transactions at the level of individual pallets is of course available in the IFS information system, but we had to adapt the ERP for high-speed production and automate individual follow-up tasks in the system. This was the only way we could ensure that the records in the system were consistent with real operations.
We wanted to make the adjustments without significant interventions in the code of the enterprise software, so as not to affect its future sustainability. For implementation, we used the responsive Aurena web interface, user-tailored form configuration and customer adjustments for chaining calls to internal API functionalities. The result is an interface for mobile devices that captures information about the status of production and logistics into the information system in real time.
Time well invested in testing
Before putting the IFS enterprise software into production, we paid great attention to testing all production and logistics processes and training end users. The BJS Czech project team placed great emphasis on this phase, and it turned out to be very well invested time. Thanks to thorough preparation, the launch took place without any technical problems, but also without any hitches in operating the system.
Gradual introduction of innovations
The introduction of innovations is inherent to the entire BJS group. The management understands well that every innovation also means the need to manage internal process changes, which requires employee time and a certain openness. Therefore, it adheres to a strategy of gradual introduction of innovations so that new procedures do not disrupt the daily operation of the company. BJS Czech initially deployed the new ERP only to processes that were covered by the previous solution. It then gradually introduced other innovations based on business priorities.
The internal IT team of BJS Czech, which understands the functionalities of the software and internal processessignificantly, contributed to the smooth launch of the information system into production, as they are able to independently solve a number of business requirements, including minor system modifications.
Further development: expansion and automation
One of the plans for greater use of IFS Applications is its expansion to the sister company BJS Components. The unified system will automatically generate corresponding documents in both companies during mutual purchases/sales or cooperation, this eliminates the need for manual exchange of information and will make material flows clearer and faster.
The second area that we will focus on together with BJS Czech is the automation of communication with the main customer.
“From the new ERP solution, we primarily needed speed that would match the pace of our production, a friendly user interface and the ability to configure the system ourselves. IFS meets all of these requirements, and thanks to the services of InfoConsulting Czech, we prepared the information system not only for launch, but also for the future, whether it is the automation of communication with customers or the growth of the number of transactions and products. We appreciate the professionalism of the InfoConsulting Czech team, which quickly understood our requirements and processes, and adapted the system for us in such a way that customer adjustments would not cause problems in the future development of the ERP.”
